After trailing 4-3 early in the second quarter, the Oswego State men's lacrosse team scored nine straight goals to give the Lakers a 13-5 victory over Morrisville on Monday afternoon in Oswego. Co-captain Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) triggered the run with 9:38 remaining in the second quarter when he scored one of his game-high three goals in a man-down situation. Oswego State improved to 3-6 overall with the win, while the Mustangs fell to 5-2 overall.

The Lakers jumped on Morrisville in the first quarter as Adam Jean (Fr., Tully, N.Y.), Scarazzo, and Chad Smith (Fr., Fulton, N.Y.) each notched goals in the first 8:27 of play to give Oswego State a 3-0 edge.  However, Eric Stein gave the Mustangs life with 5:09 on the clock in the first with his first of two unassisted goals on the day.  Stein's goal started a Morrisville stretch where it scored four straight goals until Scarazzo's man-down goal tied the contest at 4-4.  The Lakers closed out the half with four unanswered goals, including a second man-down goal by Scarazzo, for a 7-4 halftime lead.

Both teams were kept off the scoreboard for the majority of the third quarter until Brett Sarubbi (So., East Greenbush, N.Y.) found a cutting Andy Lever (So., Lindenhurst, N.Y.) with 5:55 remaining to put Oswego State ahead 8-4.  Three minutes later, Nick Zoyhofski (Sr., Hamburg, N.Y.) made it a five-goal game after receiving a pass from Andy Williams (So., Hamburg, N.Y.).

Momentum carried over into the fourth quarter as Williams tacked on a goal of his own followed by a Mike Wiesenthal (Sr., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) score.  The Mustangs stopped the scoring string with 9:09 left in the game when Adam Lewis scored an unassisted goal.  Williams and Jean rounded out the scoring for the Lakers for the 13-5 final.

Other goal scorers for Oswego State included Britt Leone (So., Schenectady, N.Y.), who also added a pair of assists, and Eric Zerrahn (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.).  Neither squad was effective in man-up opportunities as Morrisville went 0-for-5 and allowed two man-down goals and the Lakers were 1-for-8.  Oswego State goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) finished the game with ten saves and allowed five goals before Zach Harris (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.) and Tom Gropp (So., Fairport, N.Y.) came in to record a save each in the final eight minutes.  Morrisville goalie Michael Hinchey finished with seven saves.

The Lakers wrap up a busy weekend tomorrow at SUNY Cobleskill with game time at 4 p.m.
