The Oswego State women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 17-13 win over visiting New Paltz to send out the Lakers' five seniors out in style on Saturday. Oswego State withstood a late rally from the Hawks, but goals from seven different Lakers propelled them to victory. Marisa Audley (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.) and Jessica Zenzel (Sr., Johnson City) led with four goals apiece, while Bri Borrow (Jr., Oswego, N.Y.) followed with three. The Lakers finished the regular season 7-10 overall and 1-7 in the SUNYAC, while the Hawks dropped to 3-11 and 0-8 in the conference.

The Lakers jumped to the early lead with a goal by Zenzel just minutes into the contest.  New Paltz responded with a goal if its own to tie the game at one.  The Lakers kept the offensive attack coming and went on a decisive 8-1 run in about 10 minutes to stretch the lead to seven, as the defensive front and goalie Lauren Marois (Fr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) frustrated the Hawk attackers.

Oswego State held the advantage in shots in the first half, taking 24 compared to just 10 by New Paltz with Coach Ostrander's squad heading into intermission with a 9-4 lead.

The Lakers picked up where they left off in the second half and extended the lead to five with a goal from Andrea Musso (Sr., Auburn, N.Y.).  The Hawks would not go down without a fight and continued to pressure the Laker defense.  New Paltz made a push with under five minutes remaining and went on a 3-0 run to come within three.  Oswego State proved to be too strong making pivotal stops when it mattered most, however, as Zenzel netted the final goal of the game to solidify the 17-13 victory.

Prior to the game, the Lakers recognized their five seniors, Maria Martusewicz, Marianne Munson, Audley, Musso, and Zenzel, for the contributions to the program during their careers.
