The Oswego State women's soccer team squandered a one-goal lead, as the College at Brockport scored two unanswered goals to lead the Golden Eagles over the Lakers, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Brockport's Sarah Lawson scored the game-winning goal at 46:25 to eliminate the Lakers from post-season contention. The loss dropped Oswego State to 8-7-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference, while the Golden Eagles improved to 8-5-1 overall and 3-4-0 in conference.

Shelly Bateman (Jr., Fulton, N.Y.) scored the game's first goal to give the Lakers a one-goal lead at 31:58. Bateman was on the receiving end of a header from forward
Nikki Liadka (So., Liverpool, N.Y.) at the top of the box and dribbled around a defender before firing a shot over the head of Brockport goalkeeper Erin Asquith. Bateman finished with three shots and one shot on goal, scoring her sixth goal of the season.
Brockport tied the game on a goal by Amanda White's goal at 43:46. White received a pass from Kaila Maguire and beat Oswego State goalkeeper
Emily Varonier (Jr., Miller Place, N.Y.) with a shot from just outside the box that found its way into the far side of the net.
The Golden Eagles did not waste anytime after halftime, netting the game-winning goal just 1:25 into the second half. Lawson's first goal of the season proved to be both the eventual game-winner. Lawson fed a pass to Maguire, who gave the ball right back on a give and go. Lawson collected the pass and sailed a shot over Varonier's head for the deciding goal.
The Lakers and Golden Eagles finished with 15 shots apiece, but Brockport held the edge in shots on goal at 8-5. Brockport dominated corner kick opportunities, earning nine compared to Oswego State's three.
Varonier finished the game with six saves on eight shots faced for the Lakers, while Asquith earned the win in net for the Golden Eagles, registering four saves on five shots.
The Lakers return home for a non-conference game against St. Lawrence on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. at Laker Field.
