Pat Decker put the Oswego State men's lacrosse team ahead early, but No. 5 Cortland rattled off 13 straight goals in the first and second quarters to hand the Lakers a 23-5 loss on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Cortland.
Britt Leone led Oswego State with two goals, while
Andy Lever added a goal and an assist. The Lakers, who are 5-6 overall and 0-3 in the league, host Oneonta Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The win pushed the Red Dragons to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in the SUNYAC standings.
Decker tallied his ninth goal of the season 1:01 into the contest, but the score appeared to wake a sleeping giant as Cortland responded with 13 consecutive goals from ten different players. Leone stopped the string with his tenth goal of the year with 6:24 to play in the first half. The Red Dragons took a 13-2 lead into the break, as they outshot Oswego State 30-8 in the two quarters.
Cortland offense came out strong in the third quarter posting eight goals, two of which came during man-up opportunities, to carry a 21-2 advantage into the final 15 minutes.

Ian O'Brien suffered the loss in goal with five saves and 13 goals allowed in the first half, while
Tyler Trueman stopped six shots and gave up ten goals in the second half. Four Cortland goalies combined to record six saves.
