OSWEGO, N.Y. – Compiling a total of 23 runs on the afternoon, the Oswego State baseball team (18-12) had no trouble dispatching non-conference opponent Cazenovia (9-19) by scores of 15-1 and 8-0 on Tuesday. Seven Laker players had multi-hit games combined in the two contests.
 
Oswego State rattled off nine straight runs in the first contest before Cazenovia got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning.  Forrester Wight (Jr., Watertown, N.Y.) drove in the first run of the day, doubling down the right field line to score Tom Curry (Jr., Pulaski, N.Y.) in the second.  Dylan Parmenter (Sr., Bennington, VT) singled home Ed Charles (Sr., Auburn, N.Y.), and Wight scored on a sacrifice fly by Mike Stark (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) later in the second for a 3-0 Laker lead. 
 
Oswego State added five more runs in the third, starting with Alex Jurczynski (Sr., Schenectady, N.Y.) singling home Mike McMullen (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.). Jurczynski later scored in the inning on a groundout to shortstop by Parmenter before a single up the middle by Stark plated Charles and Wight. 
 
Parmenter picked up his third RBI of the game after bringing home Charles in the fourth on a single down the left field line, adding to the Oswego State advantage 9-0. Cazenovia scored its first run of contest in the fifth, coming on a single by Tim Ackerman to score Nick McCarroll.
 
The Lakers then exploded for six runs in the sixth to break open the contest. Charles scored on a passed ball to start the scoring in the inning before John Rauseo (So., Mattituck, N.Y.) singled to left center, scoring Justin Burns (Jr., Cortland, N.Y.) and Stark. Jurczynski then doubled home Burns and McMullen and later scored on a wild pitch to complete the scoring for game one.
 
Cody LaFlamme (Fr., Eagle Bridge, N.Y.) picked up his first collegiate victory, going five innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits and striking out six batters. Jordan Giller (Fr., Toronto, Ont.) pitched the final two innings, retiring six of the seven batters he faced. Joe Rogers was hit with the loss for the Wildcats, giving up nine runs in four innings.
 
The Lakers also started out on top in the second game and never looked back. Dan Karleski (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) started the Lakers off by singling home Michael Mascari (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) to grab the early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Scott Buniak (Jr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) came home on a sacrifice fly hit by Kyle Liner (So., Milford, N.Y.) to double the Laker lead to 2-0 after three innings.
 
Oswego State sent five runners home in the fifth, creating a 7-0 lead and putting away a chance of a comeback by the Wildcats. Mascari scored on a stolen base by Tyler Baker (Jr., Hannibal, N.Y.) and later scored on a squeeze bunt by Buniak who singled on the play. Later in the same inning, Tim Smith (Jr., Auburn, N.Y.) drove Matt Capobianco (Fr., Kings Park, N.Y.) home on a single, Giller's single plated Buniak, and Smith scored on an error to make for a 7-0 game. Burns drove in the final run of the day on a towering double to left center to plate Curry.
 
Cazenovia committed more errors than hits in trying to solve the Laker pitching. Josh Martin (Fr., Little Falls, N.Y.) pitched four solid innings surrendering just three hits and three walks in the shutout win, the first of his career. Dylan Kohlman (So., Vestal, N.Y.) and Nick Wheeler (Jr., Lafayette, N.Y.) combined for three perfect innings while striking out two batters apiece. Cazenovia starter Austin Matteo earned the loss, going just 3.1 innings and allowing seven runs.
 
Oswego State battles Ithaca at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Laker Baseball Field.
