CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team (7-7, 2-4 SUNYAC) got out to a slow start against top-ranked Cortland (14-0, 5-0), and was never able to recover in a 15-5 loss on Wednesday. The Red Dragons had twelve different players score, while
Jimmy Cordon (So., Camillus, N.Y.) and
Troy Crevier (Fr., Webster, N.Y.) notched two goals each for the Lakers.
Cortland controlled play in the opening quarter, scoring six unanswered goals from five different players to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
The Red Dragons tacked on three more goals in the second before
Nick Giampaolo (Jr., Setauket, N.Y.) found Crevier open for his fifth marker of the season to put Oswego State on the board with 3:47 on the clock. Cortland's Mike Cantelli recorded his second goal of the game with 1:15 left in the half to give the home team a 10-1 lead at the break.
The Lakers struck first in the third quarter following a Cordon goal with
Cody Hoose (So., Syracuse, N.Y.) earning the assist. Both teams traded goals in the stanza, as Cordon tacked on his second goal and the Red Dragons scored twice, including a man-up goal.
Cortland posted the first three goals of the fourth quarter, but Oswego State battled until the end as
Casey Balzer (Sr., Nassau, N.Y.) and Crevier each scored in the final 32 seconds to make the final score, 15-3.
The Red Dragons caused 12 of the Lakers' 25 turnovers, while also forcing Oswego State to go 14-for-23 on clear attempts.

Bryan Martin (Jr., St. James, N.Y.) registered 13 saves compared to Cortland goalie Steve Mahle making 10 saves.
Oswego State closes out the season on Saturday with a 4 p.m. tilt against SUNY Canton at home for Senior Day.
