OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State baseball team (21-13, 12-6 SUNYAC) swept its final two series' versus Fredonia and Plattsburgh in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play to clinch the No. 3 seed in the postseason tournament and its first trip to the league tournament since 2001.

The Lakers fell to 6-6 in SUNYAC contests after being swept at home by Cortland, 4-0 and 5-2 on April 17.  Oswego State sat on the fringe of the playoffs alongside Fredonia and Oneonta before closing the season out by winning seven of eight games, including the sweeps over Fredonia and Plattsburgh.

Oswego State started conference play hot, taking two of three from Brockport in Florida during its Spring Break trip and upset then-No. 1 nationally-ranked Cortland, 5-4, in 11 innings on April 4 for a 3-1 SUNYAC record to start the season.

The weekend after beating the Red Dragons, the Lakers then dropped three games in the next two days to New Paltz, only scoring five runs in the entire series.  Oswego State gathered itself, heading to Oneonta the very next weekend, sweeping the Red Dragons with a 6-5 win in 13 innings to complete the sweep.

A 3-1 win over Fredonia on April 21 clinched a playoff berth for the Lakers with three conference games remaining.  A victory over Plattsburgh on April 26 clinched the No. 3 seed heading into the SUNYAC Tournament.  The Lakers finished conference play tied for second with New Paltz, but the Hawks earned the No. 2 seed based on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
