Oswego Records First Win of the 2014 Campaign

Marcy, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team got all the scoring it would need in the first half to earn its first victory of the 2014 season, defeating SUNYIT 13-8 on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Oswego improves to .500 at 1-1 on the season while SUNYIT falls to 0-2.

Oswego put the game out of reach in the last four minutes of the first half, scoring four-straight goals to extend its lead to 10-3 at the break. The Lakers played well as a team, dominating the Wildcats on ground balls 35-24 while also winning five more faceoff opportunities (13-for-21). Oswego was nearly perfect on the clear, squandering just two chances (13-for-15).

Brady Hoose led the Lakers with three goals on the afternoon while older brother Cody Hoose distributed three assists, including one to his sibling. Jimmy Cordon, Matt Palmer, Connor Khammar and Torry Whitcher each finished with two goals while Brian Murphy and Zach Anderson both tallied a score.

Cordon also had one assist to turn in a multiple-point game.

Troy Crevier was effective in the X, going 12-for-15 on faceoffs. Wyatt Russo earned the start and victory between the pipes, playing the first 30 minutes and making six saves while only allowing three goals. Bryan Martin stood in goal for the second half, making a team-high 11 saves while permitting five goals.

Oswego will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it travels to Canton, N.Y. to face St. Lawrence University.
