Whitcher and Giampaolo Power Lakers Past Centenary

Scranton, P.A. - The Oswego State men's lacrosse team defeated nonconference opponent Centenary College (N.J.) tonight by a score of 9-3.  With the win, Oswego moves to 2-1 while Centenary falls to 1-1.

Oswego got off to a strong start, taking a 3-0 lead on two goals from Torry Whitcher and one from Nick Giampaolo.  Centenary would claw back with two goals in the final two minutes of the period to keep the game close.

Giampaolo would add his second goal of the game early in the second period for the only other score of the half.

In the third period, Oswego would tack on three more goals to extend the lead to 7-3 heading into the final frame.  Jimmy Cordon had two goals in the period, one assisted by Brady Hoose, while Whitcher netted his third of the game. 

Oswego would continue to pull away in the fourth as Whitcher and Giampaolo scored early in the period to make the score 9-3 and put the game out of reach.  Giampaolo's third goal was assisted by Connor Khammar.

Oswego dominated the Cyclones in both shots (46-25) and groundballs (42-29).  Oswego face-off man Troy Crevier won 12-of-16 on the evening to help jumpstart the offense.  In net, Wyatt Russo stopped nine shots on the night while holding Centenary to a single goal in the second half.

The Lakers return to action over Spring Break when they take on Greensboro College in North Carolina at 3:30 p.m. on March 18.
