ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's Soccer team defeated the Red Dragons of Oneonta in a shootout this afternoon to earn themselves a trip to the SUNYAC semi-finals. This was the Lakers first win against the SUNYAC foe since October 9, 1965.

- Records: Oswego 5-6-4 (4-4-1 SUNYAC), Oneonta 10-4-2 (6-2-1 SUNYAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers started off fast as Kyle Gehnrich had a scoring opportunity just over seven minutes in to the contest. The opportunity was shut down by the Red Dragon goalkeeper.
- After these bursts of offensive pressure, Oneonta turned it around, having three corner kicks and three shots within minutes.
- Goalkeeper Brian Terra stayed strong throughout for his squad, recording a total of six saves.
- At the 26:51 mark of the first half, Oneonta struck first on a cross through the top of the box.
- With back and forth play for both teams, the score remained 1-0 going into the second half.
- Oswego found themselves getting deeper and deeper into the second half with no answer to Red Dragon goalkeeper, until Kieran Gilroy got the ball over to Hajoon Lee for a beautiful shot to the bottom right corner to tie the game for Oswego!
- Both squads had many offensive opportunities going into the final stretch of regulation, neither team was able to capitalize.
- The score remained knotted at one after the first 10-minute overtime period.
- With a couple of chances per side in the second 10-minute overtime period, neither team was able to find the golden goal.
- The game came down to penalty kicks.
- Oneonta scored on their first attempt, Senior Captain Caleb Munski also sunk his into the net.
- Both teams went neck-in-neck scoring on penalty kicks until Oneonta's fourth shooter rang one off the upper-right 90, popping right back out into the field.
- Oswego had the chance to win the game with a goal, Sophomore Brendan Murphy stepped up and made no mistake by blasting it by the Oneonta goalkeeper to give Oswego the 5-4 advantage in the shootout.

Oswego will travel to New Paltz to take on the Hawks in the SUNYAC semi-finals. The game is set to start at 1:00P.M. Wednesday, November 3.
