GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Lakers were defeated in the SUNYAC Championship this evening by the #3 nationally ranked Geneseo Knights. Conor Smart scored the lone goal for the Lakers. Steven Kozikoski finished the contest with 25 saves for the Green and Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- The Lakers started out fast and JUST missed an opening-minute opportunity to get on the board.
- With 12:20 remaining in the first period, Steven Kozikoski stopped a breakaway to keep the game tied at zeros.
- At 7:51 of the first period the Lakers had a strong penalty kill, but were unable to finish as the Knights took a screened shot from the point that snuck under the glove side of Kozikoski.
- With 6:24 remaining in the first, the Lakers had a great opportunity in front of the Geneseo net, but came up JUST empty.
- The Lakers found themselves on a powerplay with 2:46 remaining after Troy Robillard was held in the Laker defensive zone.
Second Period
- Ryan Bunka was tripped at the 18:44 mark of the second period, giving the Lakers their second powerplay of the contest.
- The Knights scored at the 16:07 mark on a 3-on-1 opportunity.
- With 11:49 remaining in the second, the Knights took advantage on a deflection to give them the 3-0 lead.
- At 8:48, the Knights struck again.
- Just 30 seconds after the fourth Geneseo goal, the Lakers went on their third powerplay of the contest.
- With 1:18 remaining in the period, Conor Smart put the Lakers on the board with a shot from the right side of the Geneseo goalkeeper, the goal was assisted by Travis Broughman and Connor Sleeth.
Third Period
- The third period was back and forth, neither team capitalizing. Geneseo found themselves on their third powerplay of the evening at the . Oswego killed the penalty.
- With 10:04 remaining, the Lakers thought they may have had their second of the game, it was called no goal.
- With 2:31 remaining, Geneseo snuck a floater by from the point, bringing the contest to 5-1.
- The Knights scored an empty-net goal with 7.5 seconds remaining, sealing the SUNYAC Championship.
