2024 Oswego Women's Lacrosse preview

Excitement is building as the Oswego Women's Lacrosse team prepares for the upcoming season, determined to build on their performance from the previous year. With a notable overall record of 13-5 and a conference standing of 7-2, the Lakers are eager to make strides in the competitive landscape of SUNYAC women's lacrosse.

One of the key narratives entering the 2024 season is the transition from a group of beloved seniors to a new class of talent. The Lakers bid farewell to a group of impactful seniors who left an indelible mark on the program. In their place, the team has welcomed five talented freshman who are poised to contribute fresh perspectives and skills to the roster.

The coaching staff and returning players have been impressed with the dedication and skill demonstrated by the incoming freshman during preseason training. While the departing seniors will be missed, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the potential of the new recruits to seamlessly integrate and elevate the team's overall performance.

The SUNYAC Athletics preseason ranking for women's lacrosse has placed Oswego at a respectable fourth position. Undeterred by this initial ranking, the team is determined to exceed expectations and climb the ladder as the season progresses. Head Coach Britt Howard and Assistant Coach Mike Howard are working cohesively to refine strategies, enhance teamwork, and address any areas that may have contributed to the team's loss to SUNY Geneseo in last spring's conference semi-final game.

The 16-game season will commence at home on Saturday, February 24th, at 1:00 PM when the Lakers face-off against the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs. This early match-up presents an opportunity for Oswego to make a statement and set the tone for the season ahead. A strong start against the Mustangs will not only boost the team's confidence but will also serve as a steppingstone for their ascent in the SUNYAC rankings.
