The Oswego State Softball team will be looking to make a comeback this season as last year they went 9-27-1 overall and 4-14 in SUNYAC. They ended the season eighth of ten teams in the conference.

In the 2023 season,
Mattison Phinney and
Madison Hoeflich both batted over .300 for the Lakers. Leading the team with hits were
Fiona Higgins (29),
Christina Kania (23), and Phinney (23). Phinney and Higgins combined for 14 doubles. The trio of Higgins,
Ellie Mahoney, and Kania will be looked to bring in key runs being at the top of the RBI rankings.

On the mound, Higgins led the team with 169 strikeouts over 111 innings pitched.
Maria Lutz got 66 strikeouts in 75.2 innings.

In the field, Mahoney, Phinney, and
Kylie Detz are forces to watch out for. Mahoney totaled 146 putouts, Phinney 135, and Detz 97.Â

Seniors this season include Kania, Chelsea Sellers, Mahoney, Marissa Rogers, and Higgins (grad student). The team roster boasts a plethora of incoming talent which includes

Mackenzie Carlson,
Grace DiPalma,
Lily Fanea,
Tahlia Gerardi,
Lillian Haggerty,
Samantha Kern, and
Kira Wright.

The Lakers will begin the 2024 season in Myrtle Beach over spring break from March 9-15.Â
The home opener will be on March 30 against St. Lawrence University. Immediately following that, Oswego will travel to Oneonta for their first SUNYAC matchup on April 5. The first round of the SUNYAC Championships is May 9.
