OSWEGO, NY – Congratulations to
Jeremiah Sparks and
Ahkee Anderson on being named SUNYAC First team all-conference, to Carier Bowman on being named SUNYAC second team all-conference, and to
Jamal Achille on being named SUNYAC third team all-conference!
Sparks led the league with 302 points in conference play and 500 overall this season averaging 17.8 points in SUNYAC play and 19.2 overall. So far this season he has 162 rebounds, 82 assists, 41 steals and 14 blocks. The Lakers were the top seed after regular season play and earned the right to host the final four but were upset by No. 2 New Paltz in the championship game, 85-80. Sparks was named first team All-Conference and was also selected to the All-Tournament team after scoring 22 points in the final game. Sparks has also been named to The Top 50 Bevo Francis award watch list this season. Jeremiah was also named SUNYAC Player of the year. Sparks is a senior from Jordan, NY.
Anderson had an incredible season for the Lakers averaging 14.5 points, 2 assists and 4 rebounds. He scored a total of 377 points which is second most on the team behind
Jeremiah Sparks. He led the SUNYAC in three-point shooting with a scorching hot 57% from behind the arch this season. This is Andersons second time being recognized by the conference, last season he was second team all-conference in the SUNYAC. Anderson is a junior from Greenport, NY.
Cartier Bowman is named second team all SUNYAC after a season where he scored 251 points and grabbed 235 rebounds. Bowman led the SUNYAC in rebounds per game with 9.0 and field goal percentage at 60.4%. This season he reached the career milestone of 1000 points scored as well. Bowman is a senior who comes to Oswego from Trenton, NJ.
Jamal Achille is named third team all SUNYAC for the 2023-24 season. This season Jamal scored 241 points while grabbing 154 rebounds and blocking 9 shots. From the field he shot nearly 50% while being able to step out and knock down a three as well. This is the second time in his career that Achille has been named third team all SUNYAC. Jamal is a Graduate student who is from Staten Island, NY.
Men's basketball will once again host the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament this Friday and Saturday in Laker Hall. The Lakers will take on Babson in the first round Friday night at 6:00 PM.
