OSWEGO, NY – Congratulations to
Sophie Ruschin on winning women's lacrosse defensive player of the week in the SUNYAC! Also, Congratulations to
Tishawn Featherstone on being named baseball athlete of the week in the SUNYAC!
Ruschin was a key part of the Lakers undefeated week that finished with a win over top seeded undefeated New Paltz. Over two games she collected 4 ground balls, caused 6 turnovers, and had 11 draw controls. It was her draw control late in the fourth against New Paltz that led to the game tying goal. Sophie is also currently tied for third in the conference in draw controls. Ruschin is second on the team in draw controls (66), second in caused turnovers (22), and tied for first in ground balls (28).
Featherstone had a great week at the plate with a batting average of .600 and slugging 1.333 in 5 games with 15 at bats. He only struck out once and had a stolen base. Against St John Fisher, he collected four hits, one of them being a 2 RBI double. Against Brockport, He mashed two home runs in game one with the second one coming in walk off fashion. In his first at bat of game two of the double header, Featherstone crushed another home run to left field. For the week he had 10 RBI and, in the field, he had 8 put outs. He was integral in taking two out of three games from the Golden Eagles this weekend.
