OSWEGO, NY - With the completion of the 2024 baseball season, the SUNYAC announced its selections for the baseball All-Conference first and second teams.
 
These teams included eight Lakers, with outfielder Jelani Hamer and infielder Trey McGowan being named to the first team. The second team included pitchers Jake Danyluk, Jonah Shearer and Sean Dertinger, along with outfielders Tishawn Featherstone and CJ McCarthy and infielder Blake VanDreason.
 
In his second season in the green and gold, Jelani Hamer made a huge leap at the plate en route to his All-Conference first team nod. Hamer finished the season with a .445 batting average, 69 total hits, 21 doubles, 8 home runs, and 40 RBIs. He also finished with a .514 OBP, .735 SLG and a 1.269 OPS, all of which were career highs. He also stole 20 bases. This was his senior season with the Lakers and Hamer hails from the Bronx, NY.
 
Trey McGowan batted .349 with 5 doubles, 18 RBI and 21 stolen bases in his second season with the Lakers. He finished the season with 38 total hits and 24 runs scored. In the infield, he had a fielding percentage of .962 and 60 putouts. Trey comes to the Lakers from Bluepoint, NY.
 
Jake Danyluk made himself a candidate for the All-Conference second team, striking out 53 batters in 41.2 innings pitched, which includes a 6.0 inning, 10 strikeout performance against Fredonia where he did not allow a run. Danyluk finished the season with a 4.54 ERA. This was his senior season and comes to the Lakers from New Windsor, NY.
 
Jonah Shearer finished the 2024 regular season tossing 41.1 innings, striking out 37 batters. He ended the season with a career-best 6.10 ERA. Jonah is a sophomore at SUNY Oswego and hails from Lowville, NY.
 
The third pitcher on the All-Conference second team, Sean Dertinger took a big step forward in his senior season in 2024. Dertinger finished the season with a career-best 2.92 ERA in 37.0 innings pitched. He also struck out a career-high 35 batters in 10 appearances. The Lakers right-hander made four starts this season.
 
Blake VanDreason also made a leap during his senior season, batting .289 which is a career-high. The Sherrill, N.Y. native launched a career-high 7 home runs and pushed a career-high 27 RBIs across the plate. He also finished the season with 22 stolen bases.
 
Outfielder Tishawn Featherstone continued being a force in the lineup for the Lakers, batting .296 in 2024. He finished the season with 5 home runs and 31 RBIs and a .378 OBP, .451 SLG and a .830 OPS, earning him a spot on the SUNYAC All-Conference second team. Featherstone is a junior at SUNY Oswego and is from Port Jervis, NY.
 
The final Laker named on the All-Conference second team, outfielder CJ McCarthy, slashed .386/.481/.598 which are career highs in 2024, with 7 home runs and 36 RBIs, which are also career highs. He also stole 10 bases, and collected 51 total hits. McCarthy was a grad student with the Lakers and is from Pawling, NY.
 
These eight Lakers helped lead the team to a 23-17 overall record, and a 10-8 record in the SUNYAC, en route to a SUNYAC playoff berth.
