OSWEGO, N.Y. – SUNY Oswego cross country standout Elena Gaffney and men's golf leader Jack Shaw have been selected as the Lakers' Athletes of the Month for September sponsored by Tully's Tenders, following record-breaking and consistent performances to open the fall season.

Gaffney has been a force on the course to begin the 2025 campaign, earning two SUNYAC Runner of the Week honors while rewriting the program record book. She opened the year by breaking Oswego's 4K record—a mark later surpassed by her teammate—before storming back to reset the 6K record as well. Gaffney's early-season dominance has set the tone for a strong cross-country season for the Lakers.

On the links, Shaw has emerged as the most consistent golfer in the lineup, placing 25th, 7th, 35th, and 7th across the Lakers' first four tournaments. He has an average of +5.4 per round and has yet to post a score higher than nine-over par (+9). Shaw's steady play has established him as Oswego's top golfer this season, providing crucial and reliable scoring. His performance helped the Lakers earn a third-place team finish at their home tournament this past weekend.

Cross Country will head to the Houghton University Invitational on Saturday October 11th for their next meet. While Men's Golf will head to Nazarethn University this Sunday for a tournament at Ravenwood Golf Course.
