HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lakers came out strong in the first period, winning the opening faceoff and immediately applying pressure against the Nazareth Golden Flyers. An interference penalty sent a Nazareth player to the box just 2:44 into the period, giving the Lakers their first power play opportunity. Oswego dominated puck possession early, keeping the Golden Flyers on defense and taking seven shots during the power play, though none found the back of the net. Even after Nazareth returned to full strength, the Lakers continued to control the pace offensively. Eight minutes in, the Golden Flyers were called for hooking, giving Oswego another power play advantage. This time, the Lakers capitalized, with Colin Vassallo opening the scoring to make it 1–0. Just two minutes later, Luca Munoz extended the lead to 2–0. Nazareth briefly gained control and managed a few shots, but couldn't break through Oswego's defense. With just under five minutes remaining in the period, another Nazareth penalty put the Lakers on their third power play, where Tommy Bannister buried a shot to give Oswego a 3–0 lead. The period ended with the Lakers firmly in control, carrying strong momentum into the second.

The Lakers returned to the ice for the second period, continuing to dominate possession and control the pace of play. Three minutes in, Oswego was called for a penalty, giving the Golden Flyers a power play and a chance to cut into the deficit. Even with the man-down disadvantage, the Lakers maintained composure and control, keeping Nazareth from gaining meaningful possession. The penalty proved costly for the Golden Flyers instead, as Nico Paone set up Tommy Bannister for his second goal of the game, extending Oswego's lead to 4–0. The intensity ramped up as Nazareth tried to battle back, managing a few shots that were blocked, missed, or saved. Oswego continued to move the puck fluidly and showcase strong communication, maintaining their dominance on both ends of the ice. The period closed with the Lakers holding a commanding 4–0 lead heading into the third.

The third period opened much like the first two, with the Lakers maintaining control and keeping the Golden Flyers on their heels. As time wound down, the physicality ramped up, with players being pushed against the glass and tensions running high. Nazareth began to find a bit more time in the offensive zone but was unable to generate meaningful scoring opportunities or shots on goal. Oswego continued to play disciplined and cohesive hockey, effectively utilizing all skaters on the ice. With ten minutes left, the score remained 4-0. Midway through the period, roughing penalties sent a player from each team to the box, reflecting the intensity of play. Shortly after both sides returned to full strength, a Laker was called for cross-checking, giving Nazareth a power play, but Oswego's defense stood tall and preserved the shutout. The Lakers closed out the game with sustained energy and composure, securing a dominant 4-0 victory at the final buzzer.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will return to action on Friday, November 7th, at 7:00 PM, traveling to face the Geneseo Knights in a non-conference matchup for their first official game of the season.
