Oswego, NY – On Saturday February 21
st, WTOP hosted their third Annual All-Women's Broadcast for the Oswego Lakers men's and women's hockey games.
WTOP10 is a student-run multimedia organization that is the center of entertainment, news, and TV productions throughout Oswego County.
This year, multiple Lakers were part of the crew!
Ashlyn Feneck from the women's tennis team was on play-by-play for the women's hockey game and technical director for the men's game. Ashlyn is a sophomore majoring in broadcasting and digital media.
"This was such an amazing experience, and I couldn't have done it without all the amazing women surrounding me! WTOP 10 TV gives you so many incredible opportunities to try many new things!" said Feneck.
On the call for the men's hockey game was two women's hockey athletes. Tilly Pethrick was on play-by-play for the second year in a row for the all-women's broadcast. Tilly is a junior majoring in marketing, broadcasting, and mass communication with a minor in coaching. Her partner on the call was freshman Fiona Sierens. Fiona was on color commentary for the men's hockey game and is a freshman who is majoring in broadcasting and digital media with a minor in biology.
"I had such a fun time being a color commentator. I felt very inspired in the environment. I'm very passionate about both hockey and broadcasting, so I had a great time. Without the all-women's broadcast, I probably would've never felt confident enough to sign up as a color commentator for one of the men's hockey games, but this allowed me to do so, and I will most likely do it again in the future!" Fiona Sierens.
Together, the All-Women's Broadcast continues to showcase the talent, confidence, and growing impact of female voices in sports media at Oswego.
