OSWEGO, N.Y. – Tournament play, regional rivalries, and a challenging SUNYAC slate headline the 2026-27 SUNY Oswego men's basketball schedule, as the Lakers prepare for another season under the lights of Max Ziel Gymnasium.
The regular season tips off Nov. 6-7 when the Lakers travel to Cleveland, Ohio, for the Case Western Reserve Bill Sudeck Tournament where they will face Trine on day 1 while Case Western takes on Kenyon with the winners set to meet the next day. The opening weekend provides an early measuring stick against quality non-conference competition before Oswego returns to New York for a road matchup at St. Lawrence on Nov. 10.
One of the marquee events of the season comes later that month as the Lakers host the annual Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout on Nov. 19-21. The four-team tournament will feature Oswego, Rochester, Nazareth, and St. John Fisher, with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. Oswego opens the tournament against Rochester before closing the weekend against Nazareth.
The Lakers wrap up the opening month with a road trip to Brockport before turning their attention to conference play.
SUNYAC action begins Dec. 5 when Morrisville visits Max Ziel Gymnasium. Oswego then heads west for road contests against Fredonia and Buffalo State before closing the calendar year at the Trinity Holiday Tournament in Hartford, Connecticut. The Lakers open tournament play against national power Trinity before facing either Westfield or CCNY on New Year's Eve.
Following the holiday break, Oswego returns home for a non-conference showdown against Ithaca on Jan. 4 before entering the heart of its conference schedule.
A six-game homestand during January could prove pivotal in the SUNYAC race. The Lakers welcome Alfred State, Cortland, Canton, Potsdam, Buffalo State, and Fredonia to Max Ziel Gymnasium over a three-week span after opening the month with a road contest at Cobleskill. The Jan. 30 matchup against Fredonia will also serve as Senior Day, honoring the program's graduating student-athletes.
The regular season concludes with five conference road games before Oswego returns home to host Plattsburgh on Feb. 20 for Alumni Day. The contest could carry significant postseason implications as teams jockey for positioning in the SUNYAC standings entering tournament play.
The SUNYAC Tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Feb. 23, followed by the semifinals on Feb. 26 and the conference championship game on Feb. 27.
Oswego will be tested throughout the winter as it pursues another SUNYAC championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
