OSWEGO, N.Y. – Oswego State's Scott Buniak of the baseball team and Katie Bott of the women's cross country and track and field teams were named the recipients of the Outstanding Senior Male and Female Athlete Award. This honor was bestowed at the student-athlete banquet held on Tuesday, May 7 at the Campus Center Arena. Honorees are selected based solely on individual athletic achievement in their time at Oswego.

Buniak was named All-SUNYAC First Team the past two years. In his four years as a Laker, the Clifton Park native has contributed 177 hits, 105 runs scored, 66 RBI and 26 doubles. In a split against Utica College on Tuesday, he stole two bases, which tied the College's program record for steals, matching Jamie Rutherford's 55 from 1982-1985.

During his senior season, Buniak leads the Lakers with a batting average of .377, stolen bases with 18 and seven doubles. His junior year, Buniak led the team in total runs, triples and stolen bases and was selected for D3baseball.com's All-New York Region Third Team. As a freshman he led the squad in total hits, triples, RBI and total bases. The centerfielder was named SUNYAC Baseball Player of the Week along with Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week multiple times over his career.

He was recently selected to the 2014 Capital One Academic First Team All-District 3, an honor that is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This makes him eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team, which will be released at the end of this month.

Senior Katie Bott was named All-SUNYAC First Team for the second time in row as she took home gold in the 800-meter run at the SUNYAC Outdoor Championship. She currently ranks 12th nationally in the 800 and looks to earn a berth in the NCAA Championship over the next few weeks. The Camillus native qualified for the NCAAs during the indoor season in that same event after winning gold back in March at the SUNYAC Indoor Championship.

She holds multiple school records, both individually and as part of relay teams. Bott is part of the 4x400-meter relay that holds the College's indoor and outdoor records.

Her junior year, Bott was named All-SUNYAC Second Team after placing second in the 800-meter run as well as being a USTFCCCA All-Academic Selection. She was named SUNYAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week as a fresh man and has earned Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week seven times.
