OSWEGO, N.Y. – Infielder Madelana Wrubel – of the Softball team – has been named Outstanding Senior Female Athlete for the Department of Athletics in 2021.

Wrubel made an immediate impact on the Laker Softball program, earning All-SUNYAC honors as a freshman with a spot on the Second Team.  She batted .349 that season with 29 hits and 14 runs scored.  Following an 11-7 conference record, Oswego qualified for the SUNYAC Softball Championships where the Yorktown Heights native made the All-Tournament Team.

In 2019, after an 11-7 conference mark in the regular season, Wrubel helped lead the Lakers all the way to the conference semifinals with a pair of wins during the SUNYAC Championships.

This past season, she matched her freshman year numbers with a .338 batting average on 27 hits with 18 runs scored while playing six fewer contests as the softball team returned to action following a year off from Covid.

In all, Wrubel helped Oswego to 46 wins during her three years of action, a 27-25 SUNYAC record and two SUNYAC Championship Tournament appearances.
