Melissa Siegfried of the women’s soccer team was named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the week for the week ending September 18.

Siegfried shutout an Alfred squad that was previously 4-0, defeating the Saxons 2-0. Later in the week on Friday, the senior goalie posted another shutout versus the undefeated Clarkson Golden Knights, leading the team to a 1-0 victory.

On Saturday, Siegfried held St. Lawrence to only one goal while making three saves.
This helped the Lakers tie the Saints and finish the three-game stretch without dropping a game. The Mattituck, N.Y. native finished the week with a total of eight saves and a save percentage of .889.

This week’s games helped place Siegfried in the top-10 of Oswego State women’s soccer history for wins and shutouts.
