Ryan Woodward scored a short-handed goal to spark a Laker rally and finished the game with four goals and an assist in Oswego State's 5-2 win over Brockport on Saturday at Romney Field House.
With Brockport leading 2-1 late in the second period, and Oswego State killing a five-minute short-handed situation, Woodward took a breakaway pass from Jocelyn Dubord and slid the puck between the pads of Brockport goalie Devin Ramasawamy to tie the game with 1:09 left in the period.
Woodward then broke the tie with a rebound goal with 8:17 left in the third period. Ryan Ellis scored a power-play goal 1:50 later to make the score 4-2 and Woodward added an empty-net goal with 22 seconds left to round out the scoring.
Brockport scored two power-play goals in the game. The first was on a two-man advantage as Tony Marinello scored in the first period on assists from Steve Seedhouse and Chris Cantara. Aaron Boyer's goal with 9:56 left in the second period gave Brockport a 2-1 lead before Woodward started the Laker comeback.
Brockport goaltender Ramasawamy made 36 saves and Ryan Scott made 21 saves for the Lakers.
With five points on the night, Woodward now has 101 points in his Laker career and is the 45th player in Laker history to score 100 points.
Oswego State finished the first half of the SUNYAC schedule in first place with a 6-1-0 record in conference play. The Lakers are 10-3-0 overall. Brockport is 1-6-0 in SUNYAC play and 2-10-1 overall. The Lakers travel to Johnson & Wales for two games next weekend.
