The Oswego State women's ice hockey team shut out visiting Chatham 6-0 at the Campus Center Ice Arena in Oswego on Sunday afternoon.
The Lakers scored four times in the second period to take control of the contest, and Erin Robson had 14 saves to earn the shutout for the Lakers, who are 2-0-0 on the year.
"We rolled four lines and pressured the puck all over the ice," Oswego State coach Diane Dillon said. "All four lines contributed and we were able to wear them down in the game."
After a scoreless first period, Angie Friesen scored the opening goal for Oswego State with assists from Stefani Krysztofowicz and Pam Moore. Jessica O'Grady extended the Laker lead to 2-0 with a power play goal halfway through the period, and then scored her second of the game and third of the season in the final minute of the period. A Kendra Lemire goal with 12 seconds left in the period built the lead to 4-0.
Stephanie Esposito and Jessica Lister scored third-period goals for the Lakers.
"We were also much more disciplined and stayed out of the penalty box," Dillon said. "Our goalie didn't have much to do, but she came up big when she was called upon."
Oswego State hosts Cortland on Sunday at 3 p.m. It will mark their first league game in the ECAC Women's West.
