The Oswego State men's ice hockey team scored 15 goals on Saturday night in a 15-0 shutout win of Johnson & Wales at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
The Lakers scored four goals in the first 6:25 and the rout was on. Matt Whitehead and C.J. Thompson each had three goals in the game. Tony DiNunzio had five assists.
Oswego State chased starting goalie Charlie Bacon at the 6:25 mark. The Lakers scored five goals in the first period, three in the second, and seven in the third period. Oswego State was 7-for-12 on the power play, converting three with the man advantage while Johnson & Wales took two major penalties for checking from behind late in the third period.
Peter Magagna, Brendan McLaughlin, Ryan Woodward, and Ryan Koresky had four points each. Ryan Ellis and Garren Reisweber had three points each.
Francois Gagnon, Brad Dormiedy, and Rich Zalewski also scored goals for Oswego State. Chris Hyk had five saves and Matt Wolf had six saves as they split the duties in net. Brian Noiles replaced Bacon for Johnson & Wales and made 30 saves, as Oswego State outshot J&W 53-11.
The Lakers, ranked second nationally, are now 11-0-3 on the year while Johnson & Wales fell to 6-4-0. Oswego State continues non-conference play on Dec. 29 and 30 as they host New England College, Elmira, and St. Thomas in the Pathfinder Bank Oswego Hockey Classic at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
