The Oswego State men's lacrosse team lost 10-5 at the Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday afternoon. The host Tigers broke scored five consecutive goals in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game.
Five different Lakers scored goals and two others recorded assists in the contest.
The Lakers got off to a strong start and held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter on goals by captains Dan Rogers and Mike Brewster. RIT ran off four straight goals to seize the lead that the Tigers never relinquished the rest of the way.
The Lakers scored the only goals of the third quarter, on tallies by Mike Recor and Mike Strohm to reduce RIT's lead to just 5-4, but the Tiger offense came to life early in the fourth quarter with a pair of man-up goals and three at even strength. Nick Zoyhofski rounded out the Laker scoring in the final minute of the game.
Kevin Furletti and John Schumacher recorded assists for Oswego State in the contest, and goalie Judd Robinson made 19 saves in the contest. RIT held a 47-18 shots advantage and had 59 ground balls to Oswego State's 34.
Please note, Oswego State's scheduled home opener against St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon has been moved to St. John Fisher's Growney Stadium, due to Laker Field still being covered by snow. The game will still begin at 1 p.m.
