Lakers defeat host Morrisville, 12-3, for second straight victory

Senior midfielder Mike Recor (Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) registered his third straight multi-goal game with a game-high four scores, all coming in the first half of play, and senior midfielder Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) tallied a goal and an assist to reach the 100-point mark for his career as Oswego State posted its second win in as many days with a 12-3 win over Morrisville State in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener for both teams on Monday, April 6.

The game, originally scheduled as an afternoon contest at Morrisville, was moved to the artificial surface of Andy Kerr Stadium on the campus of Colgate University due to unplayable field conditions.

The host Mustangs (4-5, 0-1 SUNYAC) scored the game's opening goal 58 seconds into the opening quarter before the Lakers (4-6, 1-0 SUNYAC) scored the next ten goals, which started with back-to-back goals from Recor at 6:54 and 12:48 of the first quarter, and ended at 8:21 into the third quarter on a goal from senior midfielder Dan Rogers (Boston, NY/Frontier).

Recor and sophomore midfielder Eric Zerrahn (Oswego) accounted for six of Oswego's eight goals in the opening two quarters, with junior Dan Scarazzo (Fairport) assisting on a goal from each player.

Scarazzo and sophomore Spencer Mallia (Buffalo/Bishop Timon-St. Jude) were among six Oswego players to register a goal, with Mallia adding a pair of assists and sophomore Cam Davoy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and senior Mike Brewster (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) each contributing a goal and an assist. With his two points, Brewster becomes the ninth midfielder in the program's history, and 30th player overall, to register 100 career points.

Through 52 career games played, Brewster currently has 44 goals and 56 assists. He also extends his streak with at least a point (a goal or an assist) to 23 consecutive games dating back to March 12 of 2008.

The Lakers outshot Morrisville, 36-19, and controlled the ground balls (31-18) and faceoffs (10 of 18 to  Morrisville's 8 of 18), Junior Judd Robinson (Guilderland) earned his second straight win in goal, stopping 10 shots.

Oswego travels to Potsdam on Wednesday, April 8 for the second of four straight games on the road, taking on the Bears in a 4 p.m. SUNYAC contest.
