Freshman Adam Jean (Tully, N.Y.) scored four goals in the fourth quarter to help the Oswego State men's lacrosse team erase a two-goal deficit as the Lakers defeated visiting Utica 10-9 on Wednesday night in Oswego. Oswego State trailed 8-6 with the final period remaining before Jean scored four of his game-high six goals during an eight-minute span. The Lakers snapped a four-game skid with the win to improve to 2-5 overall, while the Pioneers fell to 1-6 on the season.

After a scoreless first quarter, Oswego State seized a 3-0 advantage early in the second with two goals from Jean and a goal from co-captain Dan Scarazzo (Sr., Fairport, N.Y.).  The Lakers appeared to be headed into the intermission with a 5-3 lead, but Utica's Michael Brodhead and Andrew Waite knotted the score in the final 1:09 in the second quarter.

The Pioneers came out strong in the third period as the duo of Brodhead and Waite struck again to put Utica ahead 7-5.  Brad Teal pulled Oswego State to within one with 4:41 left in the quarter after receiving a pass from Britt Leone (So., Schenectady, N.Y.).  However, the Pioneers' Reed Reynolds tacked on another late goal, giving Utica an 8-6 edge going into the final frame.

The Lakers clawed their way back into the game by taking advantage of numerous extra-man opportunities in the fourth, as three of Jean's four goals in the final frame came with a man-up.  Utica pressured the Oswego State defense late in the game, as the Pioneers made it a one-goal contest with 37 seconds remaining after another goal by Reynolds.

However, Laker goalie Judd Robinson (Sr., Guilderland, N.Y.) was up to the challenge recording three of his seven total saves in the final five minutes. It was a physical game for both squads as Utica recorded over 22 penalty minutes resulting in five Oswego State goals compared to 5:30 for the Lakers, who gave up two goals in man-down situations.
