BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Oswego State women's tennis team (3-10) was unable to overcome a 2-1 deficit heading into singles play, as the Lakers fell to Brockport (5-6), 6-3, in the consolation bracket of the SUNYAC Championships Saturday morning at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
Nicole Leader (Jr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and
Kelsey Wilson (Fr., Cicero, N.Y.) picked up a solid win at No. 1 doubles by defeating Katelyn Richenberg and Rachel Lamont, 8-4.
In singles play,
Kelly Corwin (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) and Paige Edgar (Fr., New Hamburg, N.Y.) registered wins for Oswego State. Corwin and Amy Kurmis split the first two sets before Corwin came back to win the supertiebreaker, 10-5, at the fourth singles flight. Edgar held off Sarah Stromski to post a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
The Lakers will face the loser of Cortland/Fredonia at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.
