Oswego, N.Y. The Oswego State men's ice hockey team won in a commanding fashion on Saturday, beating Elmira College 7-3.

Oswego's
Kenny Neil scored the first goal of the game at 8:39 when Oswego was given a power play advantage after Elmira's Joe Gagne was given a two-minute penalty for roughing.
Shawn Hulshof and
Alex Botten assisted Neil with the goal.

Elmira answered two minutes later with a goal from Jarryd Vaanholt.

The Lakers regained the lead at 14:54 off of an unassisted goal from
Mike Montagna, and would not look back from there.

They scored two more times in the first; one goal coming from
Brandon Adams with an assist from
Morgan Bonner and
Nick Rivait and the second coming from
Matt Galati, assisted by
Evan Schultz to make the score 4-1.

The only goal of the second period was scored by Galati for his second goal of the game. Botten and Neil assisted him with the score.

Kyle Badham jumped out early for the Lakers in the third period, scoring Oswego's sixth goal of the game 47 seconds into the period. Bonner assisted Badham with the goal.

Elmira scored two consecutive goals in the third period after Oswego's
Josh Timpano was given a two-minute penalty for checking from behind. Josh Burnell capitalized on the advantage first, scoring at 7:10 and Brian Depp scored Elmira's third goal at 7:51.

Hulshof capped the scoring for the Lakers, finding the net at 16:59 off of an assist from
David Titanic, making the score 7-3 Lakers.

Oswego will play again at 7 p.m. on Friday when they travel to take on SUNY Geneseo in their fourth SUNYAC contest of the season.Â
