OSWEGO, N.Y. – Kate Randazzo and
Mikaela Ditonto - of the women's ice hockey team – were selected to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week and as the North East Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) Goalie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Jan. 20.
Randazzo, the captain of the Lakers, tied herself in the record book for most assists in a single contest, posting four in the team's 5-1 win over Plymouth State last week. The junior originally posted the recorded on Oct. 27, 2017 as Oswego downed New England College 5-0.
While dishing out an impressive amount of helpers, Randazzo also led the team in the plus/minus category, recording a plus-3.
The four assists tripled the defensemen's tally for the season (6), placing her second on the team for most assists.
Ditonto recorded her first-career win, stopping 32 of Plymouth State's shots, helping the Lakers to a 2-1 victory on Jan. 17. This was the senior's fourth career game played, in which she let up just one goal, a Panthers' power play goal.
This is the first time the Orchard Park, N.Y. has been recognized by the league.
Randazzo, Ditonto and the Lakers return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday as they travel to No. 3 Plattsburgh for a two-game weekend series.
