OSWEGO, N.Y. - Four Oswego State men's ice hockey players were named to the SUNYAC All-Conference Teams, as the Lakers prepare for Plattsburgh in a SUNYAC Championship semifinal. Forward Anthony Passero and defenseman Max Novick were given first team honors, defenseman Tyler Currie was named to second team and forward Michael Gillespie was voted to the third team by the conference coaches. Major awards (Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Goaltender of the Year, Rookie of the Year) will be released by the conference office next Thursday, Feb. 28.

Anthony Passero leads Oswego in points and assists during the regular season with 28 and 19, respectively. Those totals are good for a tie for fifth-most in the SUNYAC in both categories. Passero, a junior transfer from Buffalo State, was Third Team All-Conference last season with the Bengals. In two games against his former team, Passero was able to assist on four Laker goals.

Joining Passero on the first team is sophomore Max Novick, who has recorded 21 points and 26 blocks this year for the Lakers. His seven goals is tied for the most by a defensemen in the SUNYAC while his 21 points is third-most. This is also Novick's second-consecutive All-SUNYAC recognition, after being named to the third team last season.

The lone Laker voted Second Team All-Conference was junior Tyler Currie, making the first all-conference team of his career. Currie has set career highs across the board and is tied for the team lead in blocks (26) with Novick. He also led the Lakers and SUNYAC defensemen in plus-minus at plus-28, 11 more than the next closest Laker. The plus-28 rating was the most of any defenseman in the league. Currie is also third on the team with 15 assists.

On the Third Team All-Conference, representing the Lakers, is junior Michael Gillespie. This is the second consecutive third team appearance for Gillespie, who is second on the team in both points (23) and assists (16). Gillespie has scored 20 or more points in each of his first two seasons with the Lakers.

The Lakers will face rival and third-seeded Plattsburgh at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the Marano Campus Center Arena. Tickets prices are $8. Students from SUNYAC-member schools are able to get one complimentary ticket – until the allotted number of student tickets are sold out – with a valid college ID, which started at 10 a.m. on Monday.
