The Bengals enter the contest with an overall record of 14-12-0 record and a 9-8 record in the conference.
Buffalo State is coming off of a victory over fourth seeded Cortland in their contest Wednesday night. In this contest the Bengals scored two of their three goals in the opening minute of the first and second periods. Buffalo State starting goalie, Emil Norrman kept the Bengals in the game, finishing with 39 saves in his return to the ice. Buffalo State scored their three goals on just five shots, finishing the contest with 12 total.
Oswego State is coming off a weekend with victories over Buffalo State and Fredonia.
The team is averaging 3.8 goals per contest on 36.2 shots per game. Nationally, the Lakers rank 19th in scoring margin (1.32) and make the most of their powerplays, ranking 26th in power-play percentage, converting 21.1% of their powerplays.
Cal Schell this season has earned his spot between the pipes with a goals against average of 2.19 which is third in the conference on 520 saves. Schell is second in the conference in goals against with goalies over 20 games played this season. The freshman has an overall record of 13-7-1 with two shutouts Schell is tied for second in the conference in wins. In 1176:58 minutes played (third in the conference), the Burlington, Ontario native has 21 games played and a save percentage of .924 which is third in the conference among goalies with at least 20 games played in the season.
Shane Bull currently sits atop the #14 ranked Lakers with 27 points by way of nine goals and 18 assists. Bull leads the team in assists, short-handed goals (1), game-tying goals (1) and is second in +/- with +17. Bull is a great two-way forward who will get in the corners and play the grinding style of hockey every coach loves. Bull has a quick release that allows him to put goals in the net and pass the puck with little effort.
Another name that is not new to any Laker fan in the past four years is Alex DiCarlo, he is second on the team in points with eight goals and nine assists in 14 games played this season. DiCarlo has become a household name for the Lakers and in his final season he looks to continue his offensive success through the playoffs starting this Saturday.
The Lakers top defenders are staples in the Lakers lineup. Quinn Warmuth has been as solid as it gets for the Green and Gold this year. Quinn has contributed a multi-faceted game that allows the Lakers to rush the puck up the ice in a quick transitional grace. Warmuth leads the Lakers in blocked shots (19) while also putting up 14 points on the season. Warmuth dishes the puck through the neutral zone, on the blue line and passes the puck just as well on the breakout. With six goals and eight assists this season, Warmuth has continued to be the complete two-way defender that every team seeks.
Ryan Dickinson has had a wonderful senior season as he leads all defenders in points with 15. With five goals and ten assists the Brighton, Michigan native has shown great discipline on the blue line and in the defensive zone. Dickinson leads the Lakers in +- with an overall rating of +19. Dickinson and Warmuth emulate their games off of each other while both are leading defensive players in points and in blocked shots. With so much more that does not show on the scoresheet.
