OSWEGO, NY – Last week SUNY Oswego joined hundreds of Division III colleges and universities across the country in celebrating DIII week.

In honor of fifty years of DIII, the Lakers completed fifty hours of community service throughout the week.

The men's soccer team volunteered at the catholic charities of Oswego.

Women's Hockey, women's soccer, and women's swim & dive volunteered at the Girls on the run program at Leighton Elementary School.

Girls on the Run inspires participants of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths while building a sense of connection in a team setting. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development to enable participants to adapt to whatever comes their way. At the end of the season, the team completes a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

Women's Basketball volunteered at a Her Time To Play program. HER TIME TO PLAY is the WNBA's initiative dedicated to championing change on behalf of girls and women and providing them with ways to connect, collaborate, and actively engage with basketball and one another.

Men's Lacrosse and women's volleyball were on the move around campus picking up trash that was not placed in a receptacle.

The Lakers have a long-standing tradition of helping the local community. For Example, the men's ice hockey team has a learn to skate program, reads in classrooms, and even played floor hockey against local teachers. In the fall, the Lakers participated in leaf raking and women's lacrosse with the wrestling team even cheered on local middle school student's for their first day of school.
