OSWEGO, NY - SUNY Oswego Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce the 2024 induction class of the New York Beta Beta Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma. This is SUNY Oswego's first-ever class of student-athletes joining the National College Athletes Honors Society.
Chi Alpha Sigma is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, have been at SUNY Oswego for at least two semesters, maintain a cumulative gpa of 3.40, and demonstrate good moral character through endorsement of their coaches and staff. Based on this criteria, 66 student-athletes were inducted into the honors society.
In addition, as a part of its newly established chapter, Carolyn Simplicio was selected to serve as the SUNY Oswego's first Chi Alpha Sigma's Chapter President. Simplicio is a junior Wellness Management major on the Women's Volleyball team who aspires to become a physical therapist. She shared the following sentiments when reacting to being selected for this honor:
"I am excited to be the president of this great chapter and represent our institution on a national level. I look forward to sharing the amazing stories from my fellow members and ensuring future inductees feel the pride that comes with this great honor."
The induction ceremony took place this morning, Tuesday April 23rd 2024 at the Sheldon Hall Ballroom.
