Meet the Lakers Joining the Field Hockey team in 2024

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Lakers field hockey team heads into the 2024 season looking to improve on their 5-13 record from 2023. They have 11 incoming freshmen with 15 returners including their two point leaders for the season, Kate McNally (18) and Ellie Kazel (12). This is head coach Caitlin Hoover's second year at the helm, we will take a look now at the incoming class for Laker field hockey.

Harlie Gilbert comes to the Lakers from Port Jefferson Station, NY and Comsewogue High School. Harlie plays for the club team known as East End. As a midfielder/defense, she was named All-Division, All-County Honorable Mention and Team MVP in 2023. "Harlie is dynamic and versatile on the field. She can cover many positions without faltering and will make a great addition to our more veteran midfield line." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Gilbert will wear #25.

Alexa Snyder is from Clay, NY and attended Cicero North Syracuse High School. She has played for the CNY Rage as a defender. For the NorthStar's, she was a 4-year varsity starter, a two-time second team all section nominee, and team captain. "Alexa has such a presence in the back field. She is not afraid to communicate and step up in 1v1 situations. She has been on a successful high school team and looking forward to her bringing that outlook with her." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Snyder will wear #20.

Rhyanne Johnson will be a Laker after attending Camden High School in Camden, NY. While playing forward for her high school she was a section three all-star, first team TVL All-Star, Scholar Athlete, and won her team sportsmanship award. "Rhyanne has speed and ball handling skills that will help elevate our forward line. She is a hard worker and I'm looking forward to seeing her grow as a player." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Johnson will wear #10.

Julia Unger comes to Oswego from Depew, NY and Lancaster High School. She has played for the club team the Buffalo Hurricanes as a midfielder/defender. Julia was a team captain, earned the Legendary coaches award, and was named a ECIC second team all-star. "Julia is athletic and a hard worker, which shows in so many aspects on the field. She is extremely coachable and has so much potential to develop." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Unger will wear #6.

Samantha Krautheim is from West Milford, NJ where she attended West Milford High School. As a goalie, she has played for the Falcon FHC. Samantha was named 1st team all-conference; 1st team all-county, North Jersey Field Hockey all-star 2nd team and a team captain. "Sam is a go- getter! She is quick and instinctive with her saves, while asking for tips and advice along the way. She will be a great addition to our defensive circle." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Krautheim will wear #99.

Sophia Prianti comes to the Lakers from Jonh Jay High School and East Fishkill, NY. She played for the club team New York HC. As a forward, she was named section one all-league and a Dutchess County second team all-star. "Sophia has worked hard and made great strides in her games over the past seasons. Her skills on the forward line will bring new ideas to our team." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Prianti will wear #23.

Makayla Caldwell is from Newport, PA and attended Newport High School. As a midfielder she was a four-time district qualifier, two-time state qualifier, scholar athlete and Brenda McClure award winner. "Makayla comes from a competitive high school program where she has been a foundational piece. I'm looking forward to her bringing her calm but competitive demeanor to New York." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Caldwell will wear #15.

Natalie Rossi is heading to Oswego after attending Wilson High School in Wilson, NY. As a forward/midfielder she was named first team all-league and offensive MVP. "Natalie is a hard worker who strives to leave it all on the field each time she steps on it. Her ability to never give up on the play is a trait that will be a great addition." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Rossi will wear #18.

Holly Brown is from Holland Patent, NY and attended Holland Patent High School. As a forward, she was a two-time TVL League Champion, a section three champion and a scholar athlete. "Holly is a hard worker who goes the extra mile. She is coachable and has a solid foundation to only grow and push those around her too." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Brown will wear #1.

Mia Foer comes to the Lakers from Whippany, NJ ands the Academy of Saint Elizabeth. As a goalie she was team MVP in 2023. "Mia is a strong goalkeeper who pays attention to the small details that make a difference. She will be a solid addition to our defensive circle." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Foer will wear #98.

Lily Rivenburg is from Ilion, NY and attended Central Valley Academy. As a forward, she was a first team all star and team MVP. "Lily is a hidden gem. Her speed and game play will help add a level to our offensive game as she is dynamic with the ball on the field and in the circle." Head Coach Caitlin Hoover. Rivenburg will wear #7.

The Lakers will open their season on the road at Manhattanville on Friday August 30th in Purchase, NY. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
