Oswego, NY- The Oswego State Women's Hockey team took third in the first SUNYAC poll of their upcoming season, and eighth nationally, according to the latest DIII Hockey News, and USCHO polls.
Oswego grabbed the top seed in last season's SUNYAC tournament thanks to a 15-1-2 in conference record, but fell to Plattsburgh at home in the Championship game, 2-0. They ended their season with an overall record of 22-3-2.
Junior Jenna Majewski (Peoria, AZ/UMASS Boston; 8 G - 9 A - 17 P) hopes to lead the lines for the Lakers in her second season at Oswego, along with sophomore Meagan Smith (Calgary, AB/Calgary Fire AAA; 6 G - 5 A - 11 P), as the pair took home ACHA All-American Scholar honors prior to this season.
Many new faces grace the green and gold this season, as four of the five top scorers have since graduated, along with standout goaltender Lexi Levy (21-3-2, 1.14, .957) joining the cohort of graduating Lakers.
Following an exhibition game against new program St. John Fisher, the Lakers will host their second exhibition on home ice with Teal Night on October 25th at 3:00 pm against Nazareth (Ranked 10th nationally by USCHO, 12th nationally by DIII Hockey News). Oswego opens SUNYAC play at home on November 14th against Cortland, which starts at 3:00pm.
