BOX SCOREBINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Oswego State women's tennis defeated Plattsburgh 5-3 on Saturday evening in the SUNYAC Championship consolation round at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
The team got an early point as
Lauren Stall and
Alicia Kreamer were able to beat the Cardinals 8-6 at first doubles.
Alli Ullrich and
Kelsey Wilson picked up another point at third doubles, edging their Plattsburgh foes 9-7 (7-3 in the tie breaker).
Stall used the momentum from doubles to fuel her singles play as she came back to down Emily Carlin in the first slot, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Haley Miller also went the distance with her opponent at fourth singles, earning a point, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. The last point, and ultimately the win, was secured by
Jill Travis at fifth singles as she beat Plattsburgh's Sarah Drexinger 6-3, 6-4.
The win concludes the
fall season for women's tennis. The Lakers ended with a record of 5-9 and will pick up play on March 27 against Elmira College at home for the start of the spring season.
