Oswego, N.Y.- Oswego landed four players on All-SUNYAC teams following their impressive 18-6-2 regular season, which saw them take the second seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
Travis Baker - First Team
Matt McQuade - Second Team
Tommy Bannister - Third Team
Michael Manzi - All-Rookie Team
Travis Baker (Waterloo, Ont. Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL)) became the only non-Hobart player to be named to the All-SUNYAC First Team following his impressive regular season. From his defensemen spot, Baker recorded 6 goals and 17 assists through 25 games, and his 17 assists ranks second in the conference among defensemen. Baker also recorded 17 blocked shots and helped the Lakers surrender just 2.2 goals per game. This is the second year in a row that Baker has earned First Team all conference recognition.
Matt McQuade (Stittsville, ON Lone Star Brahmas (NAHL)) was named to the All-SUNYAC Second Team for his efforts this season. McQuade served as the captain for the Lakers this season, and recorded 11 goals and 13 assists through 25 regular-season games. In addition, McQuade ranks in the top 10 in the conference in Faceoff Percentage, further proving his worth in the faceoff circle.
Tommy Bannister (Clayton, NY Mercyhurst University (NCAA)) was named to the All-SUNYAC Third Team for his excellent season. The Mercyhurst transfer recorded 7 goals and 14 assists in his lone regular season with Oswego. Bannister recorded 3 Power-Play Goals, which ranks in the top 15 in the conference, along with 1 Game Winning Goal.
Michael Manzi (Smyrna, DE Anchorage Wolverines (NAHL)) was the goalie of choice for the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team, following his season between the pipes for Oswego. The Lakers' netminder of choice made 17 starts this season, to the tune of a 9-4 record, a 2.16 goals against average, and a save percentage of .915, also recording 3 shutouts this season (vs Cortland 1/10, @ Morrisville 2/14, vs Fredonia 2/20).
The Lakers currently sit at a record of 18-6-2, which earned them the second seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. They defeated #7 seeded Buffalo State 5-1 to advance to the Semi-Finals of the SUNYAC Tournament, where they host #3-seeded Skidmore. That game is scheduled for Saturday, February 28th, with puck drop at 7:00 P.M.
